Coursework

At the intersection of software and hardware, the Smart Mobile and Embedded Systems (SIME) track of the Data Science and Engineering (SID) Master's degree aims to train engineers capable of leading projects integrating the most advanced technologies in networks, mobile devices, real-time embedded systems, and artificial intelligence. In the age of smartphones, smart systems and the Internet of Things, the sectors of activity concerned are numerous. These include mobile health, education, the "silver economy", security, but also control, communication, aeronautics, naval, robotics, transport, energy, cloud, nuclear, military, etc.

This program targets a rapidly expanding technological sector in the development of our companies and our society: Smart Mobile and Embedded Systems, which affect our daily lives as much as our professional environment. It is naturally in line with the digital revolution, which is leading to a change in usage, that data processing and learning techniques will provide with a real "pocket" artificial intelligence. It is based not only on the acquisition of academic skills on the software and hardware aspects in this field, but also on their application thanks to three projects and a practical internship of 4 to 6 months in a company that are intended to make room for innovation.

Job Prospects

The targeted careers are very varied: engineer (architect) of single-application real-time embedded systems, engineer of smart digital systems, engineer of mobile and sensor networks, engineer (architect) of embedded platforms, engineer of multi-sensor data fusion, engineer of human-computer interface design, architect of mobile applications, system and/or embedded software project manager, security/reliability specialist for embedded data, software designer and developer.

Demands for such engineers are growing significantly and strategically in modern economies.

Master's degree holders can also apply for a PhD in a public or private research laboratory.

Projets and Internship

Projects are carried out during each year of the training. They are carried out in groups and independently. The last one, in the second year, is a large-scale end-of-study project carried out as a team for an external client. These projects aim to design, develop and implement technological or scientific applications related to the training provided.

In the first year of the Master's program, the study project can be carried out in a company in the form of a 2 to 3 month internship.

In the second year, a 4 to 6 months internship allows the student to acquire a first significant professional experience in the field he/she wishes to enter. It is a complementary training through practical immersion in the company around an industrial project. The skills acquired in the Master's program must be applied in the company. It is a real step towards the professional world that can immediately lead to a job. It can take place in France or abroad.
